Research Areas

Ecological engineering and sustainable wastewater treatment (constructed wetland and similarly constructed ecosystems, anammox-based nitrogen removal processes, ecological design and treatment mechanisms);

Environmental engineering and resource recovery from bioresidues (anaerobic digestion, ammonia and phosphate recovery from wastewater, kinetics and microbial ecology of biological wastewater treatment systems, slow pyrolysis and biochar for removal of emerging contaminants);

Scaling-up design and prototyping of innovative environmental technologies.

Open for a postdoc: Technology development and field study for wastewater treatment and resource recovery; preferred experience in thermodynamic and/or hydrodynamic modeling, electrochemical reactors, and chemical equilibrium modeling.
